"obituaries....remind us of our briefness." "This person is dead, you're alive." wake up call indeed. what do we do between the birth and death dates?
Just saw this in the NYTimes.. Timely, given my suggestion!
When I was teaching English, I toyed with the idea of having the kids write their own obituary. (We were studying Huckleberry Finn). I wonder if this could be an assignment and then we analyze how did it make us feel? Did we include things that we aspire to before we die? What would we include? Would writing it create goals for ourselves for the immediate future? Any of our shortcomings? What would we include?
