About the Event
When someone receives a difficult diagnosis, has a serious illness, or experiences a life-changing event, it can impact all spheres of their being: physical, emotional, spiritual, practical, financial, etc. Everyone’s circumstances and experiences vary, as do their skills and strengths to cope. Once we get a sense of the proverbial room we are walking into, the tools we bring and need, the people involved, it is time to collect more information.
What does this person need? How can we identify needs? And then, how might we try to meet those needs? Sometimes the overwhelm is so great that they may be hard to identify- for ourselves or others. It helps to have frameworks or tools to identify needs - real or potential - and direct action towards meeting them, rather than spending time or energy on what we think or assume might be helpful. We can't plant seeds and expect them to grow in a ground that doesn't want them. And this can take lots of time and lots of questions! This week, we take stock of what is here and identify what is needed to survive and thrive. Please bring paper and a pen.Â
