About the Event

It’s natural to be afraid of death. What’s behind that fear? Is it the fear of pain? The process itself? Terror Management Theory, briefly, suggests that at the core of death anxiety is the fear of losing significance in a meaningful world. This need for a buffer, protection against the fear, can lead to avoidance of thoughts of death, prejudice for the groups to which one belongs as a means to increase self-importance and superiority, and increased comfort. While the name sounds intimidating (don't let it scare you!), it's a fascinating theory about the fear of death that is full of insights. What do you think?
