Last night we discussed Francis Weller's understanding of and framework of Grief. His ideas are demonstrated alongside a trailer for the movie The New World in this 8-minute video. To expand a common modern view of grief, Weller discusses The Five Gates of Grief. They are: everything we love, we will lose, the places that have not known love, the sorrows of the world, what we expected and did not receive, and ancestral grief. You can get a sense of his general stance on grief and what we miss out on when we do not experience it, express it, and celebrate it in community can be seen here:

I regret missing last night's conversation; perhaps grieve the loss of the opportunity? But thank you for the video. The visual accompaniment via the trailer for a movie (!) to Francis Weller's principles made grief almost palpable.
