About the Event
VSED (V-said) stands for Voluntarily Stopping Eating and Drinking. During the dying process, the body slowly begins to shut down, and one naturally loses the desire to eat and drink. Legal in all states, VSED is a choice wherein one intentionally decides to abstain from eating or drinking anything to hasten the dying process. Many people do this without formally calling it VSED, but for some, it is a declaration, an exercise of agency, autonomy and choice. This week, we talk about the process, who is involved, what is involved, how simple it can be and how complex it can be, and the ethical implications that might arise.
