About the Event
'Compassion fatigue' and 'burnout' are terms that are often applied to health care professionals, paricularly now during the pandemic. But you don't have to experience traumatic deaths to experience compassion fatigue or burnout. These 'states' are getting increasingly more attention and air-time as the world at large is continually exposed to traumas and suffering. But what are they exactly, and how are they different? How can prevention and increased awareness be achieved when our lives are touched by hardship? Anyone can experience either one of these, but certain people may be more at risk than others. How can we help ourselves and each other? And when is it time for the systems to change?
